Dr. True is an experienced veterinarian with a passion for horses that dates back to a young age. Growing up in Northern Virginia she was an avid rider and thus began her dedication to equine care. She went on to Virginia Tech to graduate with a B.S. in Biology in 1981 and received her DVM from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. From there she completed a year-long large animal internship at Texas A&M. Dr.True arrived back in Virginia where she was hired by Dr. Milton Kingsbury, Woodside Equine Clinic’s original owner, in Ashland Virginia. She spent the next 35 years gaining invaluable knowledge and experience in treating horses and developing a passion in equine dentistry. This passion grew into what is now True Equine Veterinary Dentistry.
With decades of experience in equine veterinary medicine, Dr. True had developed a passion for educating others in the practice of equine dentistry. She has trained with some of the leading specialists in the equine dental community. She is dedicated to advancing the field of equine veterinary dentistry through teaching. Currently, she co-teaches a week long equine dental class for senior veterinary students at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. True is dedicated to promoting equine health and furthering the education of others, veterinarians and horse owners alike.
Jamie grew up local to Ashland. Her passion for horses began at a young age, spending most of her time at the barn, learning to ride and working various jobs in grooming, training, and general barn management. Over the years, she showed locally then went on to ride for the Bridgewater College Equestrian Program while completing a degree in Health and Exercise Science and furthering her education of horses with a minor in Equine Studies.
Her passion has led to her dedication to provide the best possible care for her patients. Jamie is compassionate and knowledgeable, offering her patients the highest level of care and attention. Jamie spends her time outside of work staying active with her two dogs Brody and Riley, using any chance to spend time outdoors.
